    • Charles, it could be embarrassing that my wife is away for a couple of days (and when I wrote this… a couple of hours) and the emptiness can be felt so strongly. But hey – I’m a poet!

  1. This is lovely. The title is perfect; right away I think of wanting to hang on (to summer, but even applied to a person you love, perhaps someone with warmth who brings joy – it works so well). Even visually there’s a scattered emptiness, something slightly askew. I like that the dogs feel it, too. ~ Peri
