Something that we are

Blue Heron

Blue Heron

Seeing me, the heron
turns abruptly in flight,

it’s something that we are.

No, not the threat.
The turning and away.

Disappearing sweep of blue-grey.

  1. The melancholy perhaps the turning… reeds, disturbed grass, light glinting off a lens, the lure of deeper shadows.

Love the tangible feeling of air elicited in this one Chris….just beautiful.

    • Thanks Audra. I’ve definitely stepped away but am starting (maybe) to feel the turning. Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to you. Lately I haven’t lingered on WordPress at all… just long enough to make a scratch and scram. I hope all is well and that you’re having a great summer!

    • I’ve never seen a Red-tailed Hawk from the studio before, but coming upstairs just now, see a crow chasing one over the tree-tops. Neither appear particularly troubled. There is no urgency. These days I’m paying increasing attention to omens. Not interpretation… just recognition… appreciation and gratitude. The thinning of walls.
Thanks so much for your kind comment M. It means a great deal to me.
