A good life

If an eagle landed on my outstretched arm

and the doe didn’t run, but waited with her fawn;

I would be filled with wonder and joy.

Then I would go home, answer the phone and do my work.

This is what I am beginning to understand.

    • As always Al, thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to read and comment. I wonder if you’re looking at the same gorgeous autumn light outside your window right now?

  1. I don’t have the right words to begin to express what reading this short yet magnificent poem evokes in me. The soaring wonder and being pulled back to earth to handle the routines of life. That sharp contrast is like a resounding bell. Beautiful. Thank you. Sharon

  2. Wow – I really enjoyed this! The contrast is so striking and really hits the spot in describing how I feel having to do day to day tasks after something beautiful happens. This has perked up my day, thank you!
