Geese

I turn out the light and roll over thinking about the fast slender spider I trapped under a wine glass and carried outside a moment ago. Stepping over the dog. Moonlit deck and ancient pine silhouette. There was something about it. Do you hear the geese she asks. No. Only the familiar buzz in my ears. But then their trailing anthem finds me. Not many birds. A small fluid arrowhead falling in and out of formation crosses my mind. And then it’s morning.
